Dear clients & partners,
We would like to bring to your attention the forthcoming Bulgarian Holidays.
March 01, Baba Marta
Bulgaria celebrates one of its most loved traditional holidays – Baba Marta (Grandma March), which is believed to mark the beginning of Spring. Baba Marta is a holiday celebrated in Bulgaria, on the 1st March. On that day almost everyone in Bulgaria can be seen with a Martenitsa – usually in the form of a wristband, woven by a combination of red and white coloured threads. They are worn throughout March, until a stork or a blossomed tree is seen, symbolizing warmer weather and wellbeing. The greeting exchanged on this day is Chestita Baba Marta (Happy Baba Marta).
March 03, The National Liberation Day of Bulgaria
Bulgaria celebrates its liberation from a nearly 500 years of Ottoman rule on the 3rd of March, under the Treaty of San Stefano. The Treaty ended the Russian-Turkish War in 1877 and paved the way for liberated Bulgaria.
