I recently visited Varna at the end of September and I was kindly invited to join the Eurolink Team and the Children for the Barbeque Afternoon that was being arranged at a Villa, in the countryside near Varna, on Saturday 26th September. I would like to give you a few notes on my impressions of how the afternoon progressed.
When I arrived the “team” were busy at work preparing for the events later in the afternoon, the Barbeque in the corner of the garden was in full swing with Alex the Head Chef preparing the Hot Food and other employees preparing the tables and cutlery etc. Other “team” members were dispatched as Drivers to pick up the children and their guardians from the 2 orphanages, in a large fleet of Eurolink vehicles.
When the children started to arrive they looked rather “serious” to start with, but after a few minutes they soon got used to their unfamiliar surroundings and it was not long before you could see smiles in their faces and you could hear laughter as they were “let loose” in the large garden.
To me, the highlight of the afternoon was the enormous surprise birthday cake presented to Yanaki to celebrate his 17th birthday and the further surprise when all the children were handed a brightly coloured Orange or Green Bag containing a present.
Although I do not understand Bulgarian and could not participate in most of the conversations, I could see from the children’s smiles and expressions that they all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and they all appeared to have an extra spring in their step when it was finally time to leave.
It was mentioned to me that this was the first time that these children had been invited into a “private” villa for the day, and I am sure that they will all remember the party for many years to come.
I would like to congratulate all in the Eurolink Team that contributed to making the Choose Life Barbeque afternoon such a success, and I am sure that everybody involved got tremendous satisfaction in helping to promote a positive difference to the lives of these less fortunate children in the local community.
A good example of the Eurolink Investment Group “Giving Back” to the local communities that they are a part of.
