Switzerland is going to finance a 3.5 million Swiss Francs project on the improvement of vocational education in Bulgaria. The project will be realized with the help of the Bulgarian-Swiss cooperation programme amounting to 63 million Euro. The news has been made public after a meeting between Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and Swiss President Didier Burkhalter in Bern, Switzerland.
Further ahead, Switzerland is going to cooperate the overall reform of the dual system of education and training in Bulgaria. One of the main aims of the project is to enhance the cooperation with Swiss companies which already have successful business in Bulgaria. Thus Swiss practices in vocational education will be brought to Bulgaria. Thanks to the acting system there is practically no youth unemployment in Switzerland and the unemployment in general is 3 %.
Vocational education will contribute to reducing youth unemployment, introduce innovations and encourage economic growth of Bulgaria.
The two presidents also discussed between Bulgaria and Switzerland which have suffered during the economic crisis. A number of business forums will take place with the support of institutions from both countries during which Bulgaria and Switzerland will be promoted as investment and tourist destinations.
