1. Varna Archeological Museum
Situated in the northern part of the city centre, Varna Archeological Museum boasts impressive collections featuring Chalcolithic gold artefacts over 6000 years old and jewelry from Roman, Thracian and Hellenistic periods.
2. Varna Dolphinarium
Festa Dolphinarium offers an amazing show – the visitors will enjoy the incredible acrobatic and sports skills of the five dolphins currently living in Varna dolphinarium. Two of the dolphins, named Joanna and Bimbo, were born in Varna and their friends Kimbo, Dolly and Poppy come from Cuba and Guatemala. If you are more than 12 years old you can even swim with the dolphins.
3. Aladzha Monastery
Aladzha Monastery is a unique cave monastery, built in 12th century and abandoned in 18th. The medieval Orthodox monastery is situated approximately 10km north of the city of Varna and 2km west of Golden Sands beach resort. Aladzha Monastery is a historical monument of great cultural and national significance.
4. Stone Forest
The so called Stone or Petrified Forest is an amazing natural phenomenon situated 30km west of Varna.Geologists still can’t agree on an explanation for the formation of the stone pillars quite resembling tree trunks.
5. Palace and Botanical Gardens of Balchik
Situated in the town of Balchik, approximately 40km north of Varna, the Palace and Botanical Gardens are worth visiting. Created in the 1930s, the Palace used to be the summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania. The gardens surrounding the Palace house more than 3,000 exotic and rare plants and amazing flowers as well as the biggest cacti collection in Bulgaria.
